Hickory Hardwood Floors: Craftsmanship, Character, and a Chance to Inspire

We took a big step forward—literally. With the help of master craftsman Kris Stelter from Real Floor Solutions, the Office Shed now features stunning 3/4” hickory hardwood flooring. This wasn’t just to upgrade the looks—it was a major milestone in transforming the shed into a fully functional, warm, and inviting workspace.

Install and Inspiration

Kris Stelter isn’t just any flooring installer. He brings decades of experience, a deep appreciation for the craft, and a portfolio that includes some of Southeast Minnesota’s finest custom homes and historical renovations. But when Kris stepped into the Office Shed, he wasn’t just laying down planks—he was laying down a path for future tradespeople. Kris used this small job as an opportunity to teach a future generation about the trade. Kris used his time onsite not only to deliver a top-tier install, but to give some hands on experience to kids interested in the trade.

With the floors in place, this shed has officially leveled up. The character and warm tones transform the room from ordinary to extraordinary. And let’s be honest—If my best friend wasn’t a professional wood floor artisan, I don’t think that I would have ended up with such an extravagant floor. Professional sanding equipment that could buff the floor of a basketball court might’ve been a tad overkill… but hey, if you’re going to install hardwood floors in a shed, why not go all in? After all, this is The Office Shed—where no detail is too small, and no finish too fine.

Also featured in the video was Kris using American Sanders new HydroSand 5, to quickly work this hard hickory flooring into silky smooth perfection. We have a more detailed video on the HydroSand 5 in the works.

Special thanks to Kris Stelter of Real Floor Solutions, A to Z Wood Flooring, and American Sanders for making this glorious overkill possible and giving these kids the chance to gets hands on experience installing a nail in sand and finish floor. Man does it look good!
